Our 12-month 5 step mentoring-ship program will give an outlet to allow a young male to express himself without being judged and to teach him how to channel his thoughts and emotions in a positive manner. Some of our children are not under privilege, but they are feeling that no one is listening to how they are feeling, or no one values who they are; leading to teenage depression, anger issues and most fatal of all teenage suicide.
We will build successful mentoring relationships for the young men in our surrounding communities. To build and promote professional growth, knowledge, and skills to achieve success in life. There are very important tools they should receive, knowledge they should gain and experiences they should have that just are not provided or readily available, specifically, around independent living skills and finances. Today, there are not enough role models and or support for these young boys/men.
Mentors will provide progress and evaluation reports monthly on each mentee throughout the 12 months. As of right now, the organizations mentors are working closely with District 5 counselors to identify mentees. Plans to extend to other districts within Spartanburg/Greenville every year.
